The Mariusz Walter Award, now presented for the third time, recognises individuals whose work has made a lasting and meaningful impact on the media landscape; people whose voices matter, who spark curiosity and shape public conversation. The award was established by the Bożena and Mariusz Walter Foundation in late 2023.

In the Sports in the Media category, this year’s nominees are: Juliusz Ćwieluch (Polityka), Jacek Kurowski (TVP Sport), and Włodzimierz Szaranowicz (TVP Sport).

In the Media Event of the Year category, nominations were awarded to Sylwia Czubkowska, author of Bóg techy. Jak wielkie firmy technologiczne przejmują władzę nad Polską i światem (God Tech: How Big Tech Companies Are Taking Power over Poland and the World); Magda Łucyan and Katarzyna Górniak (TVN and TVN24), authors of Taka twoja uroda (That’s Just How You Look); and Jacek Harłukowicz (Onet.pl), author of Chłopcy z ferajny. Największa afera w polskiej polityce (The Boys from the Crew: The Biggest Scandal in Polish Politics).

Nominations for the Main Award in the Media Personality of the Year category went to Michał Przedlacki(Superwizjer, TVN), Konrad Piasecki (TVN24), and Arleta Zalewska (Fakty TVN, TVN24).

The nominees were selected by an independent jury chaired by Andrzej Bobiński and comprising leading journalists, editors and media professionals, including Andrzej Andrysiak, Edwin Bendyk, Magdalena Bigaj, Kamil Dziubka, Jerzy Jurecki, Grzegorz Kalinowski, Michał Kołodziejczyk, Adam Małysz, Andrzej Morozowski, Adam Pieczyński, Hanna Rydlewska, Joanna Solska, Agata Szczęśniak, Bożena Walter, Dominika Wielowieyska, and Maja Włoszczowska. Jury members submit nominations, from which three nominees are selected in each category.

As every year, the jury discussions were lively. We’re living in a time of change: new voices, new formats, new technologies. The challenge is to recognise the great figures of traditional media, while staying open to what’s new and emerging. That’s a hard balance to strike and it is why the discussions take hours. It’s about staying open to new voices, while still recognising the people who’ve been shaping the media for years.” - said Andrzej Bobiński, President of Polityka Insight and Chair of the Jury.

The winners will be announced at the awards gala, to be held on Friday, 27 February 2026, at the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw.
