Magdalena Bigaj (2025)

She is a media scholar, researcher and social activist, specialising in digital wellbeing, media literacy and children’s rights in the digital environment.

She is the author of Wychowanie przy ekranie (Raising Children in the Age of Screens) and Twój telefon, twoje zasady (Your Phone, Your Rules), published by  WAB. She also co-initiated and co-authored the pioneering nationwide Ogólnopolskie Badania Higieny Cyfrowej (National Digital Hygiene Studies) and the report Internet dzieci (Children and the Internet).

Bigaj is the founder and head of Poland’s first academic programme dedicated to digital hygiene at Korczak University. She is also a regular columnist for Pismo. Magazyn Opinii (Pismo. Opinion Magazine).

In 2024, she received the Korczak Award for her work advancing children’s rights in the digital environment. She was named to Forbes Women’s “100 Women of the Year” list in 2022, included in the “100 Most Influential Figures in Digital Education” list in 2023 and 2024, nominated for Gazeta Wyborcza’s “Person of the Year” title in 2025, and shortlisted for Tygodnik Powszechny’s Bonus Award.
